New Pocket Rosary by Joe Meineke (Refined By Fire Designs)

This newly listed pocket rosary features 99.9% copper beads (approx 8mm) hand forged from solid copper bar stock. I had some extra beads from a batch that I made a few weeks ago and decided to put them to use in these one decade rosaries. You can check out the new listing on Etsy by clicking here.

This rosary is beaded with high-strength, full-hard 316L Stainless Steel wire, including hand-made Stainless Steel jump rings. The center & crucifix are Bronze reproduction pieces.

I love the feel of this rosary. Even though it is small in size it still has a nice weight to it because of the solid copper beads. It's great to have one of these with you to pray either a full rosary or just one decade when you can steal away a few minutes of time from your busy schedule!

Check out my personal blog at joemeineke.com for more information on how I make my copper beads!

OUR LADY OF FATIMA IN BLUE
WIRE-WRAPPED ROSARY

Handmade Sterling Silver wire wrapped Rosary. Ave beads are hard-to-find Montana blue Grade A 8mm cateyes (also known as fiber optic beads). Cats eye beads, sometimes referred to as fiber-optic beads change hue as they capture and reflect light. They have a band of light running through the center that resembles a cat's eye. The Ave blue cateyes are accented by hematite seed beads and flower spacers. The Paters are 13mm rectangular agate stones with striations of white and shades of light blue. The centerpiece is handmade by the artist and is a one of a kind piece consisting of an image of Our Lady of Fatima, centered in a silver plate antique cabochon pendant. The crucifix is two-sided and heavy, silver on bras, heavily plated, cast from an antique mold. This rosary will last a lifetime and can be passed from generation to generation.

Stations of the Cross Chaplet from Laude Arts and Gifts

Meditating on the Way of the Cross is perhaps the most meaningful way for us to enter into the mystery of our Lord's Passion and Death. This chaplet is the perfect vehicle for praying the Stations of the Cross anywhere or anytime you wish. The focal point of this chaplet is the incredible sculptural images depicting each of the Stations. They are finely detailed and made of silver colored metal. In keeping with the solemn nature of the Via Dolorosa are 6mm black onyx beads accented by small silver plated bead caps. Appropriately, in the center of it all is the Sacred Heart of Jesus because it was His Heart and His love for us that led Him to sacrifice Himself for us. Finishing the chaplet is the large vintage crucifix. If you would like to see more photos of this chaplet and more of my handcrafted rosaries and chaplets, please click here . Robert's Heirloom Rosaries, Just Listed! Rosary of St. Therese of Lisieux- The Little Flower

This is the Rosary of St. Therese of Lisieux- The Little Flower

Construction and facts about your 5 decade Rosary: This Rosary is 34 inches in length.

The Pater Nosters are 14 MM Hand Painted Tensha Beads (Pink Roses on a Wine background). The Aves are White Turquoise.

All components are .925 Solid Sterling Silver. The beautiful rosary center Of St. Theresa holding a bouquet of roses and the beautifully detailed crucifix make this a gorgeous devotional sacramental. This beautiful sacramental devotional item is just dripping in Bali silver. The rosary center and crucifix are antique pieces that have been recast in silver.

St. Therese- The Little Flower-

Generations of Catholics have adored this young saint, called her the "Little Flower", and found in her short life more inspiration for own lives than in volumes by theologians.

Yet Therese died when she was 24, after having lived as cloistered Carmelite for less than ten years. She never went on missions, never founded a religious order, never performed great works. The only book of hers, published after her death, was an brief edited version of her journal called "Story of a Soul." (Collections of her letters and restored versions of her journals have been published recently.) But within 28 years of her death, the public demand was so great that she was canonized. Therese was born in France in 1873. Click Here for more photos and info.

Robert's Heirloom Rosaries, Just Listed! Rosary Of St. James

This is the Rosary of St. James

Construction and facts about your 5 decade Rosary: This Rosary is 34 inches in length.

AAA Grade 8 MM Faceted Blue Chalcedony Agate and .925 Sterling Silver. The small connectors beads are made of solid nickle.

James, son of Zebedee (died 44AD) was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He was a son of Zebedee and Salome, and brother of John the Apostle. He is also called James the Greater to distinguish him from James, son of Alphaeus, who is also known as James the Less.

James is described as one of the first disciples to join Jesus.

The feast day of St James is celebrated on 25 July on the liturgical calendars of the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran and certain Protestant churches.

James' emblem was the scallop shell (or "cockle shell"), and pilgrims to his shrine often wore that symbol on their hats or clothes. The French for a scallop is coquille St. Jacques, which means "cockle (or mollusk) of St James". The German word for a scallop is Jakobsmuschel, which means "mussel (or clam) of St. James"; the Dutch word is Jacobsschelp, meaning "shell of St James".
.
The beautiful rosary center is the Scalloped Shield and emblem of St. James. The beautiful Scalloped Crucifix is in concert and fitting for this gorgeous rosary and adds the final touches to this beautiful devotional sacramental.

This is considered an “unbreakable rosary.” -as each bead is individually wire wrapped and should never come apart. However- dropping it on a hard surface may crack the beads. You should always take great care of this sacramental. Click Here For Further Details

The God-Shaped Hole

On a whim this evening, I decided to subscribe to America, the national Catholic weekly magazine. I've considered it on and off for many years, but tonight I actually did it. I'm committed for a whole year.

America is published by the Jesuits, and having gone to a Jesuit high school, I'm particularly drawn to their writings. The article "Get Closer" by Father James Martin (click here to read the full article) is especially compelling this Lenten season.

The 'desire' Fr. Martin describes is something I have certainly felt, but not recognized as such:

Sometimes you experience a desire for God in common situations: for example, standing silently in the snowy woods on a winter’s day, finding yourself moved to tears during a movie or recognizing a strange sense of connection during a church service—and feeling an inexpressible longing to savor this feeling and to understand what it is.

I have often gone into a trance-like state of hyper-focus during homilies at Mass. (I have great priests at my church.) I usually end up crying, overwhelmed by everything I experience during during the homily. It makes sense now to see that as my desire for God.

...In general, we do not turn to God in suffering because we suddenly become irrational. Rather, God is able to reach us because our defenses are lowered. The barriers that we erected to keep out God—whether pride or fear or lack of interest—are set aside. We are not less rational. We are more open.

Almost exactly a year ago, I asked my brother how little Jeremy Spikes (click here to visit Jeremy's CaringBridge.org site, authored by his mother) was doing. He'd been in the hospital for a few days, and his mother's Facebook updates weren't good. In the middle of Mass, he checked his phone and showed it to me: "Jeremy grew his wings." I sobbed silently the rest of mass.

I'd never met Allie, Jeremy's mother. But right after church my car took me to Michaels and I picked up the most beautiful beads for the rosary I was compelled to make for this girl I didn't know. I think about and pray for her and her family often, and I am grateful to God for bringing Allie into my life.

Allie still wears her bracelet every day.

It can be quite uncomfortable how death breaks down our defenses and lets God become more audible in His call to us. I know it has opened my eyes to harsh experiences and realities that I'd rather not deal with, but I'm simultaneously glad I did. When I first learned that IMPD Officer David Moore had died (read about Officer Moore's death here), I sobbed violently in front of the television.

Later, my cousin was helping organize a fundraiser for a memorial scholarship at Ofc Moore's alma mater, Roncalli High School. I quickly offered to donate a rosary. It made a bigger impact than I could have ever expected; the matching one-decade I made for his parents caused his mother to cry when it was given to her.

When I met David's mother, Sergeant Jo Moore, she told my mother and me about learning of his shooting, the strange circumstance that caused her to pick up David's (and not her) rosary that morning, and how God has held her up through losing her only son. I felt embarrassed to cry in front of this woman, but I felt that I was in a moment of Grace, of being in communion with God. Such an amazing, strong woman, and here she was falling over herself telling me how beautiful some wire and beads I made was. It was beyond me.

thin blue line one-decade

Fr. Martin's article caused me to relive all these moments, as well as others I'd rather not share. But to be able to define those fleeting occurrences as a mutual desire between myself and God has made me aware to keep an eye out for those cool breezes that ruffle leaves, the smell of stargazers in June, and the fluff of a warm puppy in my lap. There, in the stillness, is the Lord.

Seriously, read it. It's an amazing and timely article: http://www.americamagazine.org/content/article.cfm?article_id=12768

Robert's Heirloom Rosaries- Chaplet Of St. Cecilia

This is the Chaplet of Saint Cecilia, Heirloom Quality.

Chaplet rosaries are tailored to a specific set of prayer. There are no two chaplets alike. The number of beads that compose a chaplet are generally significant and meaningful to the chaplet itself.

St. Cecilia is the patron Saint of Musicians and Church Choirs

“Saint Cecilia, I confide in your intercession because you generously offered your life as a sacrifice for the love of Jesus, to whom you were devoted with your whole heart and sole. Jesus will not refuse your prayers.

Beg Jesus to grant me this favor…..”.

Construction and facts about this devotional sacramental chaplet:

This chaplet is constructed of lots of .925 Sterling Silver. All medals are solid silver molds. All bead caps and connectors are Bali sterling silver. The hanging medal and center of St. Cecilia are recast from antique pieces in order to make this Chaplet extra special.

The large (12mm) beads are natural AAA Grade Peacock Blue Tiger Eye semi-precious stones. The smaller (10 & 4mm) beads are natural Mother Of Pearl semi-precious stones. On the tail are a few 4MM Swavorski Crystal Bi-Cones (Garnet) used in the connectors. Very rarely do you see Peacock Blue used in a devotional sacramental. They are absolutely beautiful and these photos do not do them justice.

The beautiful rosary center and hanging medal are portraits of Saint Cecilia playing a musical instrument. Each bead of this chaplet is individually wire wrapped and should never come apart. However- dropping it on a hard surface may crack the beads. You should always be careful and take great care of sacramentals.

All chaplets come with instructions on how to pray this specific chaplet. For additional information click here

Sliding Wooden Rosary $35.00

This is my latest design in my Rosary collection.  This rosary is inspired by my Sacrifice bead designs.  The beads slide up and down their cord and stay in place, just like the Sacrifice beads.  For a long time I have been wanting to make a rosary which would help people to keep their place while they pray, no matter what the interruption.  As a mother, I really need that!  I especially think it will be nice for children to be able to move the beads as they pray the rosary.  This is an original Graceful Rosary design.

New Addition to Laude Arts and Gifts

The focal points in this rosary are the Edwardian style crucifix and the matching center. Both pieces are handcast bronze and were made from new molds of old pieces. The originals for these pieces came from Europe in the late 1800's. The contrasting the crucifix and center are the 8mm fiery AB crystal Czech beads. The Avé beads are finished off with 3mm fluted brass bead caps and the Pater beads have filigree brass bead caps. The finished product has the effect of a vintage rosary. This rosary may not be your grandmother's rosary, but it sure does look like it! Give Away Contest for March 2011

March Give Away Prize

Welcome to our Give Away Contest for March. This month's rosary was donated by Linda of Laude Arts and Gifts on Etsy. Linda is a member of the Etsy Rosary Guild and has been selling on Etsy since August of 1984. In her own words, Linda describes the rosary:

A harbinger of spring in the gloom of winter is this pink, man made, rock quartz crystal rosary. These beads are the most sparkly beads I have ever seen. They appear to have an AB or a Luster finish. The rondelles measure 5mm-5 1/2mm high and 8mm in diameter. They are a very pale, peachy pink color. The Avé beads have 3mm fluted, silver plated bead caps on either end and the Pater beads have ornate Tibetan Silver bead caps. The open work crucifix has a lily behind Our Lord's head and a lily on either end of the horizontal arm of the cross. The silver colored center has an image of the Holy Family on one side and the Holy Spirit on the other. This rosary would make a wonderful First Communion, Confirmation or Easter gift. It would also be great for Mother's Day. This rosary is valued at $45.00.

To see more pictures of this rosary, click here. Please don't hesitate to enter our contest and have a chance to win this wonderful prize.

The contest will end on Sunday, March 20, 2011

Open to US residents only

Okay…here’s the scoop! The Etsy Rosary Guild is a group of artisans who make beautiful, handcrafted rosaries and jewelry. We are dedicated to using our art as a witness to our faith as well as using it to help support ourselves and our families. Naturally, we want to let the world in on what we are doing, so we have decided to have a monthly give away as a means of advertising our creations. We started doing this in June and so far, our give aways have been enormously successful. We are hoping that you would like to get in on the action.

You can enter as many times as you wish…no purchase necessary. However, if you find that you would like to buy something, we won’t stop you!

Here are the rules. We’ve tried to make it as simple as possible.

To enter, first visit Linda’s shop and take a look at all the beautiful items she has
made. Find your favorite item and come back and tell us about it in a comment on the blog. That’s it! You’re done…if you want to be.

Please leave your email address on each comment that you make in the form of JaneDoe (at) anywhere.com. That way we will be able to contact you if you are the lucky winner. Sadly, because we can not contact you without an email address, entries that do not have an email address will be ineligible to win.

If you would like to make more entries after visiting Linda’s shop, here’s how you can do it.

Enter one (or more) of the member’s shops listed in the side bar on the
right, find something you like and come back here and tell us about it in a
comment on the blog. Remember that each comment counts as an entry, so
make separate comments for each shop that you visit. That way you
can rack up more entries.

Mark Linda's shop, Laude Arts and Gifts as one of your favorite shops on Etsy, come back here and tell us about it in a comment.

Sign up to follow our blog. You probably want to do this anyway so that you can learn about all that we are doing and keep an eye out for our next give away. If you already follow our blog (thank you), just leave your user ID in a comment.

Become a Facebook Fan of The Etsy Rosary Guild Team. Leave a comment back here with your Facebook name. Existing fans just leave your Facebook ID here in a separate comment.

Blog about our give away on your blog…or anyone else’s … and come back
here and put a link to the post in a comment.

Refer our Give Away Contest and our Blog to a friend. Ask them to leave a
comment on the contest saying that (your user ID) referred them. This will give
them an entry and will give you yet another entry. Two for the price
of one ain’t bad!

Just a reminder: Remember to leave your email address in the form of JaneDoe (at) anywhere.com. That way we can contact you if you are the lucky winner.

Also remember…Comments = Entries! Yaaaay! So leave as many comments as you like. Just click on the word “Comments” at the bottom center of the post and you’re ready to go.

Oh yes, this goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway. Guild members are not eligible to win. While this bums most of us out completely, it means y’all get more chances to win.

Winner will be chosen by Random.org

Thanks so much for taking the time to give us a look-see and thank you for entering. Remember the contest will end at noon on Sunday, February 20, 2011.
